I feel like Annie…
I think I’m gonna like it here.
Here being Seattle, where I am not yet.
I spent a good bit of time this week looking up various things. There are 5+ yoga studios within a stone’s throw of the UW campus. There are LOADS of Irish dance classes, both competitive and performing. English Country Dance is held most Fridays at the University Friends Center (yes, Friends as in Quakers) which is right on the western border of the campus. KUOW public radio (a service of University of Washington!) is just on the northern edge. And the southern border of campus is a big honking lake. Er. Bay. Big watery thing, is my point. And of course, the university has the usual things one expects. Gym, places to obtain food, libraries, hospital, archery range, private helipad.
Now to officially accept (if the registrar weren’t being draggy I’d have done it by now) and wangle housing.
I seem to keep going to school for free. I approve.

Things to check out to get you more into the Seattle culture:
The Stranger and The Stranger Blog (SLOG) are the local alternative press. They’re pretty funny, always opinionated, and the original home of Savage Love.
KEXP, is my favorite Seattle alternative public radio station. They play excellent music, and I highly recommend their live internet feed, which you can listen to now.
Seattle Cacophony Society. You can’t attend the activities until you move here, but they throw the best parties - from Santarchy to the Brides of March. I recommend joining their mailing list once you arrive.
Once you move, I’ll also add you to my list of local events so you can see what things I’m excited about.
