Fix my blisters!

I know that more than a few of you have participated in some blister-heavy activities over the course of your lives, while the worst I’ve done has been dance classes with a week in between them. I have three popped blisters and a few smaller, deep unpopped ones on my hands. I’m going back to crew tomorrow night. What the hell do I put on the popped ones that can stand up to some serious oar friction? Moleskin? Liquid bandage? Just wear the blood like a badge of honor? Help!

(The popped ones, for the record, are on my thumbs between the base and the first knuckle and on my palm just below my pinkie finger.)

i would try any and everything to pad the area starting with liquid bandage then the moleskin. then a padding of 4×4’s or cloth or whatever taped over like a boxer. then a good pair of gloves–possibly leather to help hold it all in place during the stress of exercise and to keep everything from shifting /rubbing.

    watch for infection, please.

Good lord, don’t put moleskin on the popped ones! Moleskin’s supposed to go on before to help prevent blisters. Cover the popped ones on your thumb with a thin layer of gauze and wrap several times with white cloth athletic tape, then fairly tight leather gloves over your hands. The ones on your palm will be awkward whatever you do, gauze and tape as best you can.

At my program, they always told us: do not, do not, do not put gloves on! They also constantly berated us in pursuit of a superior split, but I think that’s pretty common across programs. My coach always told me that if I put gloves on, the friction will be over the entire hand, which will suck even more. But then Yahoo! Answers says otherwise:

I’ve never seen Band-Aids able to handle even a 2k, so you might just have to take an Advil and suck it up. Spray the handle with disinfectant beforehand, just in case.
